From Office Paper to Toilet Paper
By Gail Nickel-Kailing on February 8th, 2010
Office paper getting out of hand? Get a White Goat! And turn 40 sheets of office paper into a roll of toilet paper in just 30 minutes.
White Goat – expected to sell for about $100,000 starting this summer – was developed by Oriental Co., a small shredder maker based in Kiryu City, north of Tokyo, which says it’s the first product of its kind in the world.
A tip of the hat to Eric Vessels for passing this on to Going Green!

Over 600,000 rolls just to gross a ROI and that does not include power, Labor or service. Sign me up! I am so sick of “green” that makes no sense, not from a cost or a impact.
All office paper is recycled, far less costly and with green impact. I find it hard to believe banks will fund this, or anyone will buy it for anything other than as a gimmick.

I agree, at this point there is no ROI. But it’s amazing that someone could even manufacture something that would work like this! It’s a prototype…a proof of concept.
What it does show us is that creative thinking outside the box does come up with solutions. Why not turn everyday office paper directly into toilet paper? Makes sense.
It will take some engineering to make it work cost effectively, but the concept is proven now.
I agree, this particular application is NOT ready to go to market.

Just one question – why White Goat?

Pete,
My guess is “creative naming.” I think we all remember being told that goats will eat anything. I have friends who raise them and they say paper can be a favorite snack for goats!
