NYU “Prism” Awardees Discuss the Present and Future of Graphic Communications

By Patrick Henry on July 1st, 2009

As posted last week, New York University’s Master of Arts Program in Graphic Communications Management and Technology presented the 23rd annual Prism Award to Vyomesh (VJ) Joshi, executive vice president of the Imaging and Printing Group (IPG) of HP. Prism recipients are chosen for their visionary business leadership and their commitment to training and education for graphic communications. In the following video interview, we asked VJ to talk about the state of higher education and about progress being made toward “Print 2.0″: HP’s campaign for a wave of do-it-yourself, Web-enabled printing aimed at driving more pages to digital output.

Nancy H. Scheuneman is this year’s winner of the student Prism award, and in this clip, she offers her definition of “graphic communications” as it evolved during her graduate studies at NYU. With her is Bonnie Blake, director of the M.A. program in graphic communications, a unique degree that provides students with critical leadership skills as well as an overview of established and emerging technologies in the field.
